Edward Carl Grahn, 79, of Arlington Heights. Beloved husband of 52 years of the late Beverly, loving father of Jennifer Grahn, Christina Grahn, and Edward (Michelle) Grahn; dear grandfather of Jack and Matthew Holecek and Ashley and Laura Grahn; brother of Janet Anderson. He is predeceased by his loving parents Ingve and Edna Grahn. Edward leaves behind many dear friends and relatives.

Edward was born and raised in Chicago. He graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964, stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he worked in the Prosthetics Research Laboratory.  This experience took him back to Chicago where he began a 50-year career at Northwestern University’s Rehabilitation Engineering and Prosthetics Research Laboratory, later the Prosthetics and Orthotics Center (NUPOC) of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He was a loyal member of American Legion Post 525 (Mount Prospect). A man of quiet faith, Edward was a long time member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Edward was a gentleman and a gentle man and will be missed terribly by all who knew him.
